“No one questions that the so-called ‘refugee crisis’ is the biggest humanitarian problem nowadays and that it is urgent to solve it.

This crisis represents millions of men and women of all ages, as well as children, dramatically exposed to great dangers, suffering the inexpressible, and whose future does not seem to exist.

Following the character of our charism, the momentum of the various documents from the General Congregations, and the appeal of the Church through the prophetic voice of Pope Francis, the Institute has committed, together with the JRS, to accompany, serve and defend refugees and internally displaced people.

The Institute does so not only by sending a sister to Iraqi Kurdistan as a volunteer with JRS Middle East, but also by maintaining the desire of the whole Province, very much alive and active, to respond and do everything so that these brothers and sisters of ours can find a safe and warm haven while waiting to return home.”
